oh yeah, I have a couple tattoos!
(super long tattoo explanations)
empires is from an Aiden song, Let the Right One In. the lyric goes “empires built around your heart, let the right one in” which is my personal reminder to not be such a cold bitch and give people a chance instead of assuming the worst in everyone which is a serious personality flaw i have
the cross is meant to be inverted, as i’m an atheist. its my reminder to stop discrediting my own beliefs to accommodate others. i also like the controversy/symbolism of it and how it can be interpreted so many ways by people but they won’t know the meaning i chose until they ask. which is a great. like they could think i’m religious and i’m all nope, i’m a godless heathen. or think its st peter’s cross, also nope. i think its funny people took the holy symbol, turned it upside down, and called it evil like haha its the opposite of good lol evilness. but yeah, i chose the positioning so its inverted to people i meet (like if i shake someone’s hand, which i like to think steers away close minded people) and its right side up to me because “that god does not exist, I cannot deny. that my whole being cries out for a god, I cannot forget”
this doesn’t belong on this blog but idgaf :)
Ugh, I hate this inverted cross shit so much.
I’m a full-blown atheist, too, but that doesn’t mean I think it’s fine to go and appropriate religious symbols to fit my agenda. Might I remind people that this is what happened to the swastika? It was a positive symbol of good luck and well-being, and then the Nazi’s went and took it to spread fear and hate. And it doesn’t matter how many Westerners run around to re-define it with tattoos that show off how “spiritual” and “in touch with India” they are - the swastika is a racist symbol in the Western World now. It will take a long time before it can be reclaimed, if that’s even possible.
St. Peter’s Cross is a symbol of humility and seeing it used by people to tell everyone how “edgy” and “heathenish” they are (to wordlessly fend off certain people like how is that not closed minded?) is fucking gross.
I’m sorry. I just quickly skimmed this post but I saw something about turning a cross upside down and making it evil or some shit? I don’t even know like I said I skimmed, but here’s this: The St. Peter’s cross is the most religious symbol ever mind you. It’s atop many Catholic Churches. And it symbolizes unworthiness and humility. St.peter refused to be crucified the same was Jesus was because he didn’t think he was worthy enough to die the same way, thus having his crucifix turned upside down.
Please do at least the slightest bit of research before getting a tattoo or you’ll make a fool of yourself for taking a shit on religion just because ‘it looks cool’
